Our AI Art
AI art is not just about asking a computer to generate an image — it requires creating prompts, requesting specific art styles, selecting source images, fine-tuning designs, and more. To create images to represent our non-visual work, we use AI technology called MidJourney.
It’s also notable that there is bias in AI art. AI technology has been shown to generate predominantly white male faces when asked to generate doctors. When asked to generate people with disabilities, it almost exclusively generates wheelchairs. We have found that it does not really know most terms related to race, gender or disability, or even many terms for healthcare, mobility or other assistive devices.
Currently, our AI art is made by editor Lillie Reed. Below is a collection of some of the many pieces we have created for our pieces, and art we did not use that was created in the process. If you would like to contribute art to Didactics or get involved in creating AI art, please contact us.
Our AI art is free to use, but if you use it, please cite us and consider donating to support our efforts. 100% of your support will go towards our logistical, technical and publishing fees. Contact us to learn more.
